A fairytale wedding day at the Westin LaPaloma in Tucson, Arizona. A Marine Officer, Dan wore his dress uniform throughout the day and the couple cut the cake with an actual sword. The love this couple has for each other came through in every moment throughout the day. They were fun and playful, but completely serious about the marriage part. Pretty much a photographers dream… A beautiful sunset ceremony took place on the Catalina Basin at The Westin LaPaloma
Kelsey and Mathieu are from in Connecticut, met me on Skype, planned a wedding in New York with a Tucson Arizona wedding photographer, and now live in California. Whew! The amazing power of the internet. As we chatted back and forth over the year, I was super excited to help Kelsey with her wedding timeline...
And so we started off the day with a first look and photos at The Westin LaPaloma, where there are mountain views galore. And then ended up the evening at Skyline Country Club, which is nestled up in the mountains. So mountains they got. I absolutely loved all the colors and details in this wedding! Meagan Crain of MC Events planned this beautiful modern wedding around an Arizona palette of turquoise, copper and cactus. The bridesmaids wore pale gold dresses with just a touch of shimmer.
We were back at Agua Linda Farm in Amado, one of my favorite places in Southern Arizona. Laurel’s gardens were in full bloom with climbing roses and iris’s everywhere. Nora had wanted a casual garden party feel to their wedding, which Kim McFate of Simply Elegant Events gorgeously put together for her with wooden farm tables, antique chinaware, and bouquets of daisy’s, ranunculus’s, anemone’s and wildflowers. Potted succulents were scattered on the tables and also given to the guests as favors. A beautiful ceremony was held under an arbor of fushia roses and the dinner and desserts table was catered by Feast.
I was already pretty pleased that I was going to be photographing Baylee and Sam’s upcoming wedding at Aqua Linda Farm this fall. But then Baylee mentioned that they wanted to have an engagement session done while they were camping up on Mount Lemmon with their 2 dogs – and I was over the moon. I love Mt Lemmon, I love dogs, and I love smore’s and campfires – all of which they promised me. I’ve done plenty of engagement sessions up on Mt Lemmon, so going out on the rocks is pretty much a given, but Baylee and Sam also had a pretty little campsite nestled in the woods with plenty of trees and fallen logs.
Amy and Leif had a perfect vision for a ranch style wedding in Tucson, Arizona. Levi’s and vests for the guys with succulent boutonnieres. Mint dresses for the girls with beige shoes, jean jackets and baby’s breathe bouquets. Oasis at Wild Horse Ranch in Tucson was the perfect setting for this beautiful wedding with Raynu and the staff at Wild Horse
The Bald Head Island destination wedding of Gaby and Phil was just a little more than a fairytale dream wedding. This ferry only accesible island has no cars and no hotels. The 80 guests all rented houses and drove around in golf carts all week. I had my own little photographer’s golf cart and I just seat belted all my camera bags in and sped around this beautiful island for 3 days of festivities at the rip roaring speed of 18mph. Life definitely slows down on Bald Head Island, North Carolina.
Joel and Alison’s wedding day at Tanque Verde Guest Ranch was a delightful day full of color and joy. Desert marigolds were in full bloom and perfectly complimented the yellow accents that Alison had chosen for her wedding. Cowboy boots and comfort food took the day. A beautiful Jewish ceremony on the Cactus Lawn at Tanque Verde Guest Ranch was held under a hoopa of prayer shawls and concluded with both the bride and the groom breaking a glass in their own twist on tradition. The guests then traveled down to the lake for cocktail hour and eventually over to Cottonwoods Grove for a Cowboy style cookout dinner.
So stepping outside of the box and incorporating their bikes into their photos was something I was really happy to do. Give me a gorgeous spring day in the mountains and I will do just about anything! It was so nice to get to spend the afternoon with this wonderful couple – I can’t wait until I get to see the whole family again at their fall wedding at The Kannally Ranch House in Oracle.
I haven’t photographed a wedding at Stillwell House and Gardens in Tucson in about a year now, and oh how I have missed this urban gem! In addition to being a garden oasis in the middle of downtown Tucson, the staff at Stillwell House has been here for years now and everything flows smoothly at every wedding I have photographed here. Plus the food is delicious. Clare and Rob moved to Tucson just about 6 months ago for work, so 75 plus guests flew into Tucson to join them for a wedding week celebration in the sunshine. Clare knew right away that she would need a wedding planner to help coordinate a destination wedding in a brand new city, so she enlisted the help of wedding planner Meagan Crain of MC Events to put everything together.
If you haven’t been to Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson lately – well you should stop by and take a peek! They renovated and redecorated sometime between last year and my visit there last week. It’s beautiful! Gone are the dark colors, everything is lighter and brighter. Creams and purples with silver accents. Margaret and Steven’s wedding colors were plum, gold and ivory, so everything blended perfectly. Margaret and Steven met and live in Silver City, New Mexico, so Tucson was a destination wedding for their extremely nice group of family and friends who traveled here for this weekend wedding. A beautiful ceremony out on the upper terrace was followed by cocktail hour on the Cascade Terrace and an intimate dinner in the Ventana Room overlooking the gorgeous city skyline. I especially loved the table centerpieces that had artichokes and succulents tucked in with the roses and wax flowers.
Ceremony and Reception at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort; Hair and Makeup by Margarita Go Diva; Dress by Allure Bridals; Flowers by In Full Bloom; Music by Hans Hutchison; Officiant was Don LaVetter
It was a gorgeous day to meet up at Tohono Chul Park – I hadn’t been there in about a month and it is a place where I always love to walk around. Spring was just around the corner – trees are starting to leaf out and all of the gardens should be full of flowers in another few weeks. the thing I love about engagement sessions is that we have the luxury of time. We were able to wander throughout Tohono Chul Park and get to the far corners, something I don’t usually have the luxury of when I’m there for a wedding day!
I’m not sure that there anything more fun than photographing 13 year old girls! I have photographed several of Rachel’s friends Bat Mitzvah’s in Tucson and I get excited working with this group of girls every single time. Rachel’s Bat Mitzvah is coming up soon so I met with her for a little pre-party photo...
Valentine’s Day weddings! What a romantic day to be married, especially on a warm sunny winter’s day in Tucson, Arizona. I met Jane and Erin at another wedding I photographed last fall, Nico and Tristen’s wedding. A fun day with a fabulous couple – but this time, Nico was the officiant instead of the groom! And he...
Katie and Tyler were not your ordinary wedding couple. Quirky and fun – not about to have an out of the box wedding. Pink and white chucks with matching socks, a birdcage veil. Superhero t-shirts under the groomsmen’s suits. You had to guess the answers to questions about the couple to figure out which table you were seated at. Every moment of this winter wedding at Quail Creek Country Club in Sauharita was fun!
Ashleigh and Joeys’ wedding weekend at Tanque Verde Guest Ranch in Tucson had a little of both. But luckily, not all on the same day! A huge winter storm blew into Tucson the week of their wedding. It was freezing cold and it rained all all week. By the wedding day, the rain had moved on and Tucson’s normally warm gorgeous weather had returned.
I knew from the moment I met them sitting out on the patio at the Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain that they were going to be an awesome couple to work with. And they were. From their fun and slightly competitive engagement shoot (Red Sox vs. Yankees), to a wedding day at the Ritz Carlton that reflected both of their personalities. Erin with her blue satin Betsy Johnson shoes with leopard insoles to Jeff and his classic getaway Cobra. A touching wedding ceremony was held on the fireplace patio at Cayton’s Golf Club
