Agua Linda Farm is not a place for a formal, traditional wedding. There are no chandeliers, flowery carpet, or long winding staircases. I fell more than a little in love when I was here for Laura and Austin’s wedding. Agua Linda is a working organic farm in Abado, Arizona – there are goats and sheep, cats and dogs roaming about the property. A pumpkin festival in the fall. Enormous flowering gardens and views of the mountains. And yet, amongst all the rusticness of a farm, is a beautiful adobe hacienda with Tiffany windows designed by famous architect Josias Joesler in the 1950’s. Elizabeth Taylor , Natalie Wood and John Wayne stayed here. Gabby Giffords was married here.
Laura and Austin brought their own personal taste and family heirlooms to decorate an already beautiful property. Vintage lace tablecloths on rustic picnic style tables, a book ‘The Married Life’ from one of Laura’s relative’s wedding in 1902, the silk sash from her grandmother’s wedding dress, origami paper cranes with handwritten notes from each guest, handmade pins for the bridesmaid dresses. And who would have thought of having a food truck cater your wedding? I’m a huge food truck fan, and once I tasted the food from Animal/Farm food truck in Tucson, I could see why Laura and Austin choose them to cater their wedding. The taco bar had a line that kept people coming back for 2nd’s (3rd’s?) – the pulled braised pork ‘al pastor’ was one of my favorites :). I now follow Animal Farm on facebook hoping they stop by the Northwest one of these days…
