Summers coming and the New York wedding season is back in full swing! I still have a few more Arizona weddings to photograph this year, but most of my summer was booked up by the New York brides. And to kick off the 2012 New York wedding season was Jill and Shawn’s VERY cold but wonderfully fun April day at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie. Jill was ready for any kind of weather – she had these awesome bright yellow umbrellas just in case of rain. It didn’t ever even look like rain, but we had fun with the umbrellas anyway and they even ended up on the dance floor somehow at the end of the evening….
Bright yellow flowers, umbrellas and shoes, pewter grey bridesmaid dresses, an antique gold ring box. And a couple who wanted to take things off the beaten path, yet still retain a classic feel to their wedding. After a formal traditional church ceremony at St Joseph’s in Kingston, we headed over to the Senate House in Kingston and then to a new fave place – The Stockade Tavern. A bar so cool that they don’t even have a sign out front. If you don’t know about them, they don’t care. They even had a write-up in the NY Times this past October. This is one of Jill and Shawn’s favorite places and my assistant, Mike, liked it so much he took his wife there last week. This bar was maybe too good since 90% of Jill’s large and rowdy family ended up staying there instead of showing up for family pictures. Which we eventually did finally manage to pull off, but not until several hours later!
